The Covid-19 pandemic continues to cancel events world-wide and Friday the 13th in Port Dover is no exception.
Norfolk County officials remain concerned about the health of residents and visitors from Covid-19. As a result, there will be no vendor permits issued for parks or downtown locations. Local stores and restaurants can choose to be open on Friday the 13th following provincial guidelines in place at the time. No camping is being planned. No beer tents are being planned.
As large, informal gatherings like Friday the 13th can develop into super-spreader events, the local Medical Officer of Health is encouraging people not to attend the event this year to avoid any possible spread of the Covid-19 virus.
Local shops and restaurants may operate on August 13th under provincial guidelines which may be limited to outside dining, limited number of customers at one time and require mask wearing.
Please stay safe and we hope to see you in Port Dover for a future event when the time returns that we can all be together again…. hopefully that is Friday, May 13, 2022.

Getting a Resident Dash Pass — In Person
For new residents of Port Dover or if you did not receive a pass, Port Dover Board of Trade is setting up in Powell Park bandstand at these times before the September 2019 event to provide residents with passes.
— Please bring ID (drivers’ license or tax bill, etc) showing your Port Dover address.
— You will need to have adequate off-street parking for each pass
Getting a Resident Dash Pass — By Mail
The easiest way to get an additional Resident Pass is by attending one of the scheduled times listed above.
If none of those times work for you, you can request a Resident Pass by mail.
Simply click on link below; print out form; and mail to: Resident Pass, PO Box 1203, Port Dover N0A 1N0
Include a stamped, self-addressed return envelope with your request. Allow 10 days for processing.
No ID required for mailed requests but a Resident Pass will only be mailed back to a valid Port Dover address. Include your name and address; a telephone or email contact; the reason you need a Resident Pass mailed to you.
Even with a Resident Dash Pass, travel within Port Dover on Friday the 13th in September is expected to take much longer than usual because of higher traffic volume.
FOR MOTORCYCLES: Main Street will be open for parking north of Nelson Street. There is NO parking this year in the two downtown blocks of Main Street where vendors will now be located. There is NO centre line parking for this event… all bike parking will be curbside. There is parking on many side streets and in the Elmer Lewis Parking Lot downtown.
FOR OTHER VEHICLES NOT MOTORCYCLES: Entry into Port Dover will be restricted. All visiting vehicles will be directed to parking lots on the edge of town with shuttle service by bus to downtown.
All local restaurants, bars and pubs across Port Dover are ready for you to visit and are planning to offer a warm welcome. Come to Port Dover on Friday, September 13th and enjoy the town’s hospitality.
For a new look, vendors will set up curbside in the two downtown blocks of Main Street with food vendors set up in and around Powell Park with shade trees and picnic tables. Be sure to see what is offered in all local stores and at the vendor locations.

“Resident Dash Pass” information for Port Dover residents on Friday the 13th…
What is Friday the 13th in Port Dover?
Friday the 13th in Port Dover is the largest motorcycle event in Canada. In good weather, thousands and thousands of bikes and bikers ride to Port Dover and tens of thousands of others visit Port Dover.
What is the “Resident Dash Pass”?
The “Resident Dash Pass” is a simple way to let Port Dover residents pass through police traffic controls on Friday the 13ths as quickly as possible. Residents place the pass on their dashboard allowing police to move traffic more quickly. (Anyone riding a motorcycle doesn’t need a pass.)
Is this “Resident Dash Pass” different than the last one?
No. A new pass called the “Resident Dash Pass” was issued in 2018 and it is valid until 2023. Older passes are no longer valid. The new ‘Resident Dash Pass’ sits on your dashboard rather than hanging from your mirror. But it works the same way… police can wave you through roadblocks more easily than requesting ID from every car and this helps keep traffic moving.
What if I lose or forget by Resident Dash Pass?
Your Drivers License showing a Port Dover home address inside the road blocks will allow you entry into Port Dover on Friday the 13th.
Did my old Resident Pass expire?
The current Resident Dash Pass was issued by Norfolk County with the May 2018 water bills for affected Port Dover residents and is good until 2023.
What day is the Resident Dash Pass needed?
Resident Dash Pass is used to help traffic flow on Friday the 13th only. No pass is needed to drive into town on Thursday the 12th or Saturday the 14th.
Where can I get a map of road closures in Port Dover?

I run a business and need to get employees to work on Friday the 13th… what do I do?
A special BUSINESS DASH PASS is being issued. All vehicles with this pass will be able to enter Port Dover. Traffic is expected to be heavier than normal… allow extra time. Vehicles will need a legal parking spot when they get into Port Dover. Business owners must collect the ‘Business Dash Pass’ from their employees to reuse at the next event.

I live in Port Dover but didn’t get a Resident Dash Pass… what do I do?
Two Resident Dash Passes were included in water bills from last May 2018 sent to affected residents of Port Dover. If you don’t receive a water bill and live inside the road closure area of Port Dover, you can get a RESIDENT DASH PASS by bringing a piece of ID showing your Port Dover address to Powell Park bandstand on these dates in August 2019. Remember, all vehicles will need to park in a legal parking spot. Many streets in Port Dover have restricted street parking on Friday the 13th.
